Porcelain Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are made out of thin porcelain shells that are attached to the very fronts of your teeth. They are used to cover imperfections and flaws that are causing you to feel badly about your appearance. Rather than have more invasive work done, veneers are simply made for the teeth and placed over the front of them. Veneers can last for about 10 years before showing any signs of damage.

Why are Dental Veneers needed?

Dental veneers are ideal for transforming your smile without the need for invasive treatment. You might want veneers because you have a big upcoming event or just because you want or need to improve your confidence in your smile. Some flaws that can be covered with porcelain veneers include:

  • Gaps and spaces
  • Discoloration and stains
  • Chipped and broken front teeth
  • Uneven, unsightly teeth
  • Slight orthodontic problems

Who is a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

To determine if you might need or benefit from dental veneers, we’ll have you come in for an exam. Your front teeth should be free of decay and otherwise healthy in order to be a good candidate for veneers. These veneers are custom made to fit your smile perfectly. They are easy to care for and require the front teeth to be slightly filed down to prevent them from looking too bulky.

What Happens During The Porcelain Veneer Procedure

What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

First, we will buff down the front teeth to make room for the new porcelain veneers. Impressions, which are also known as molds, are taken to make the new veneers. Your next appointment involves placing the actual veneers. We will adjust the way that they look to ensure an even, full and beautiful smile. Your new veneers are permanently in place and should be cared for and cleaned the same way you would to any of your natural teeth. With regular dental appointments and care, the veneers will last for about 10 years before replacement is recommended.
